After re-establishing an advisory committee with community members in the field of BioMed and STEM, one thing stood out: They have been talking about creating two state-of-the-art labs for Ball High students for years.

After several meetings with this advisory committee, the Synthetic Cadaver and Cell Culture Lab were created. Funding for both these labs came from the Moody Permanent Endowment Fund. They are both one-of-a-kind for a high school!

I held numerous professional development sessions for staff members, but the Vaping Summit for Galveston County administrators was my favorite. We all spent the day learning from peers and students to learn more about vaping and how to prevent them from starting this deadly habit.

In 2019-2020, I led a small team in completing the paperwork for the BioMed and STEM Communities to receive national magnet certification. It was awarded to Ball High in 2020-2021.

Ball High is a TSTEM designated campus--a school within a school model. When I assumed the role of Director of BioMed/STEM, the program was on a Needs Improvement list. In one year, I corrected all of the issues and we were off the list.
